Coming from a small town, Bunkie, Louisiana where as a child every day after school she would have fun making ceramics. Over her elementary school years she achieved many awards for her ceramic designs. Carol was always told in school how good her art was but felt it should be a hobby and not a career. Therefore, when she attended college she chose Fine Art as a Minor. She worked for many years in retail, bookkeeping, and accounting. At the same time perusing her passion in many art forms as painting, woodworking, polymer clay, and jewelry design.

Later in life she went back to college and graduated with a degree in Graphic Design. Having this degree has enhanced her skills as an artist. Carol has her own business, Loethen Design, where she specializes in acrylics, watercolor, mixed media, and collage..

Carol now lives in Pensacola Beach, Florida with her husband, David, who is also a photographer and artist. Her work has been published in magazines and has been exhibited in juried art shows.

I moved to Florida in 2003 and it was then that I started selling my jewelry designs. When I lost a husband in 2004 this passion helped me through that dark time. I decided to go back to school and pursue my passion and love of art as a career.
I graduated from Pensacola State College with a GPA of 3.85 and degree in Graphic Design. I believe having this degree has enhanced my skills as an artist. I also have taken several commercial photography classes. This is where I found out I also love fashion photography. Since then everywhere I go my camera comes with me.
Art is definitely my love and passion and thus I am always challenging myself with new creative possibilities. I have my own Business,” Loethen Design”. My jewelry has sold from small boutiques to all over the world, and has been published in several magazines. My designs have my own signature style and are an expression of me. I hope you can see the love and passion that goes into each piece of art I design.
In 2016 I went back to my roots. I now paint using acrylics, watercolors, mixed media, and collage.
